Websites4magicians magician advertising creates websites for magicians that book more showsA recent study done by Google shows that 80% of customers who buy a product or service view the company's website before making a decision. If your website is not designed in a way to draw them in and get their interest, chances are they will move on to your competitor.

With so much competition nowadays it's not enough to have a website. You have to have a website that helps close sales

The days of having a cool flash website or home built looking website is over. Now that supply is more than the demand in our industry, it is more important than ever to create a website as a sales tool. We specialize in creating websites that work. They are built in a way that entices the visitor to want to get more information and eventually book your show.

Wouldn’t it be great if your website company not only knew the answers to these questions but anticipated them for you?

1. Build the website with your customers in mind.

Before you even create the first page, think about what your potential customers want to see when they come to your site. Someone who is looking for entertainment at a corporate event will want different information than someone who is booking a performer for a night club or a cruise ship.

A corporation may want to know if you can incorporate a product into your show, while a cruise ship agent may want know how long your act is and how much it costs to ship your props.

For our clients who  work in different markets, we like to put links on the home page for each market in which they work.  With this approach, a prospect  visits the website and sees a link that pertains to their industry or market. Once they click on it, they will be taken to a page that has been designed specifically for that market.

By taking this approach you can incorporate a different sales message into the content. Instead of a prospect viewing a brochure-style website with the typical resume, bio and video, they can be directed to a page that will not only give them all of the information about how they can make their event a success, but also give them tips and ideas they may not have thought of before.

2. Content is King

It is awesome to have a fancy website with all kinds of flash animations and a cool layout design, but if the prospect couldn’t find the information they are looking for, then they will move on to the next performer.  Have you been on a website and been aggravated because you can’t find the contact information or the right information on a product? The same is true for talent buyers. If they are inundated with splash screens and moving graphics, then they will become aggravated as well.

You want to create a website that shows off the content and your talent. You do not want to  show off the skills of your web designer. Make sure the navigation is simple. Of course you want your site to look professional and have the proper design elements, but make sure that it does not overpower your content. Remember prospects visit your site to see if you will be the right fit for their event. Make sure they can get to that information quickly.

3. Old News is Bad News

Many websites have a news page. News pages are great for keeping visitors up to date on what’s going on with your career, but if you don’t update it at least once a week then it appears as if you have nothing going on.

The best way to keep news updated is to ask your web designer to build the news section of the site with a CMS (customer management system) component. This kind of system allows  you to log into a place on your site and make changes to the news section. Don’t worry though, it is very easy to make changes with a CMS component. If you can edit a document in Microsoft Word, then you can update the news section of your website.

Now, anytime something interesting happens in your career you can immediately post it to your website. We advise our clients to take a camera with them to their shows and take a few pictures.  After the gig,  they create a news item about how much fun their clients had and upload one of the pictures along with the news item.

4. Getting e-mail leads the right way

Since e-mail is the primary communication tool for most people nowadays, website visitors are not as willing to share their personal information as they used to be. They already get too much junk mail, so why would they want to add more to the list? This is why you must give them something of value.

For example, if you are trying to get leads for corporate buyers, then create an e-book about  the top ten things  event planners need to know when hiring entertainment. If you are booking private parties, then create an e-book that gives tips on how to plan the perfect party.

These are subjects your visitors want to know about and will increase your chances of getting more leads from your website.

If you are looking for a company to help build and plan your online presence, give us a call. We will be happy to discuss your website goals and see if we are a good fit for your needs.

For a limited time we are offering a starter package to get you up and running as quickly as possible. You can find more information here.
